I realised I've been so lazy I didn't even bother to update about the 3rd day of Malacca. But nothing much happened that day so I shan't elaborate. Likewise, this whole month has been pretty boring because I've been clearing my annual leave and off before my ORD on 23rd January, which is in 10 days! On the surface, that may look good because it signifies that I have a lot of free time. However, the truth is exactly the opposite, as I have so much free time I do not know what to do with it. In particular, there are 2 things that have been a pain in the ass during this period, namely job hunting and driving lessons.
I have been job hunting all the way since end of November because I have so much free time and I can make use of the time to earn some extra income. However, due to my national service, nobody will employ me as it is against the law. As much as this sounds pretty childish, I have to agree that NS sucks. I know that they have to make it fair that every male has to go through national service but I'm pretty sure many people can see that we have so much extra manpower. No doubt the government keeps mentioning that we do not have enough babies and are facing a shortage of national service personnel, but I can go to tekong and easily pick out at least 100 people that are the "extra" manpower. I understand that many units face peak and low-key periods, and the extra manpower will surface during these low-key periods, so why not allow them to have to freedom to work outside? Make it such that the NS liability is top priority, but in the case where there is a chance, they can be allowed to find employment outside. How far can a normal specialist or enlistee's monthly allowance bring them? Maybe all these seem far-fetched but I'm sure something more manpower efficient can be worked out.
This is not the only problem about job hunting for me. The other problem I hate is the fact that the classified ads always have rubbish jobs advertisments whereby the job offered and the job publish may differ. Pretty often, we'll find ads that are looking for management trainee, admin executive, customer relations executive, etc. I have found out that most of this rubbish is fake, and they're mainly put up by recruitment companies to lure you down for an interview so as to get hold of your portfolio. Sometimes, a trip down and waiting time can take you and hour, whereas the actual interview only last 5 minutes, of which nothing about the employer nor the job is finalised and you're told to go home and wait for a call. This call can take 3-4 months as I've seen from some forums online, and the most mentioned company is r*****t *ex***ss. Hence, I've decided never to go for any job interviews handled by them.
Also, I'm irriated by the kind of jobs that we, undergraduates awaiting matriculation, can do. Most of the time when I look at the ads, people of our qualifications end up being restaurant crews, waiters, admin job, data entry, telemarketers, etc. Not that I look down on these jobs but I believe there can be better opportunities for people like us. Most of the management and supervisory jobs require 2-3 years of management or supervisory experience. In that way, most guys in my shoes cannot apply for them as our 2 years are all spent in the army. Despite complaining so much, I believe I'll still end up in one of the jobs mentioned above. If I did not serve NS, I'll be in my 2nd semester of 2nd year in university now.
As for my driving lessons, I'm getting kind of sick of it recently. Initially I though driving was pretty easy, only the clutch pedal being the problem. It is only after these 8 lessons that I start to realise that it is not that simple. However, it cannot be that difficult either as almost every other guy has a driving license. The factor that makes driving such a bore is probably my instructor. He is really panicky, and always assumes I do not know what I am doing. More often that not, he says things to make you demoralised and which teachers does that to his students? I have since decided to rely on myself for my test on April 17th because it'll be really weird to change an instructor now. Have to live with it.

I've changed my blog template to this really cool navigation type which may be confusing to people who were following my old blogs. But the fact that you are able to reach this page means that you understand how this works and that your iq is not so low after all.
Everything I type on my blog are my own personal comments purely for memory (or in certain cases, stress relieving) purposes and not targetted on inflicting irreversible mental trauma on whoever's name that is mentioned. I also do not like to discuss things mentioned in the blog outside of my blog. What's in the blog, remains in the blog.
Please tag on the tagboard to give me constructive comments or just to say hi. I love to say hi because greetings are free.
Remember to check out the songs I'm listening to in the music box segment located at the lower orange rectangle.
