My friends, never forget to bring your handphone with you out in today's world. You'll just feel like you're a prehistoric man living in 2006.
Just today, I unfortunately left my handphone at home and a hell lot had to happen to me. On one hand, I had an outing with Jenn Haur and gang and had to inform them where to meet, etc. On the other hand, I had to inform s27 that I wasn't going with them to wala wala. Trust me, there ain't so many pay-phones around in Sinagpore. And I had to go to lavender to make a replacement for my lost IC. My mum went with me and helped to pay and helped me take some stuff home while I went to meet Jenn haur and gang. The only good thing that happened today was that I only had to pay $60 instead of $100 because I said the IC was "stolen" instead of 'lost". So after that, I went off to PS while my mum went home with my collection slip and other forms.
The highlight of the day happened at this point of time. While at PS, I was walking up and down around the box office area where I had arranged to meet them as I was now uncontactable and it will be damn dumb to wander off to another place. And those three had to be an hour late. So i did that walking up and down thing for 1 hour! And guess what, 2 policemen approached me and asked me for my IC!!!! WHAT THE HELL!!! DO I LOOK LIKE SOME UNDERAGE PUNK THAT LOITERS AROUND PS HOPING TO CREATE SOME TROUBLE? So the following was roughly what went on...
Police 1: Can I have your IC please?
Me: (takes out EZ-link and hands over to police 2)
Police 1 : How old are you?
Me: 18.
Police 2: You don't have your IC with you?
Me: No, 'cause i lost it a few week ago and i made a police report.
Police 1: So where's your report?
Me(thinking how dumb they might be to ask this question): I lost it a few week ago, of course it's at home la. I just went ICA in the morning to make a replacement, you can call and check.
Police 1: So you dun have your report...So where's the replacement slip?
Me: My mum went with me and brought it home.
Police 1: So you also don't have the replacement slip with you? Can you use your handphone to call home?
Me (can't believe how suay i was): I didn't bring my handphone...
Police 1: Wah, everything also don't have ahz.
Police 2: So what school are your from?
Me: VJC!
And from then on, their attitude changed and started talking nicely to me. I explained my situation to them and they even lent me a handphone that allowed me to contact Jenn Haur. Really shows what your school's name can do to get you out of trouble sometimes.

I've decided not to do a "House Committee Handover Day Part 3" because I just realised I have a lack of pictures to do that. Besides, the part 2 wasn't very well received... sigh.
To those guys out there who have not taken your medical examination for national service, be mentally prepared because it is freaking boring. The whole medical exam can take up to 4-5 hours, including the psychometric test, which is totally dumb. For me, first they check my ear by telling me to listen to some sounds and raising the hand which corresponds to the ear the sound came from. Next, i went for my eye examination which totally sucked. Bue to my high myopia, I had to go back another day for further examination and this news spoilt my whole mood for the test. So, on 4th july, I'll have to go back to that god-damned place. After which was X-ray. Then, I had to go and do this urine test and the medical examiner was damn funny lahz. he was so afraid of everyone's urine and insisted we stand 4 tiles away from him and keep saying," throw away! throw away! yes! yes! throw away!" then after that was blood test which i thought would be painful. Somehow, it didn't hurt at all. I think the influenza jab I took before I left for Cambodia was more painful. Yay! I'll finally know my blood group after 18 years! Then, was dental and jaw X-ray. Lastly, i entered a room filled with half naked guys for the last physical test. They take your height and weight, blood pressure, ECG and the medical officer will speak to you and tell you your PES status. This was the super slow and draggy part. And it's really disgusting you have to face so many people with really big tummies and saggy fats... yucks.
So I got a PES D temporarily for 1 month due to the follow up on my eye on 4th July. Go ahead and laugh, but i think I'll get PES C in the end and slack throught my 2 years of NS. But if because of the eyesight I only get to do some shitty work, I'm gonna be so disappointed. After all, I worked damn bloody hard to get gold for NAPFA this year.

House Committee Handover Day
15/05/2006
Part II
Many people ask, what do we do in house committee?
Well, we do many many things. Below are just some examples.
1. We come up with really cute faces to light up people's day!
2. We pray and pray for that there wouldn't be stupid interhouse pictionary.
Obviously it failed.
3. We act cute to lure people to join interhouse competitions.
No wonder turnout is always ......
4. Once in a while, we think of new mass dance moves.
Explains why there's been only 6 all this while.
5. Sometimes, we even have to guard entrances to the hall so that no outsider sneaks into assembly.
House comm people don't crash concerts... yah right.
6. Once a year, we visit the society for the visually handicapped and bring them laughter.
We make them see.
7. We help poor victorians from evil families find a new home.
From
to
8. We do major productions such as opera,
"desperate housewives",
"the tall husband, the happy wife and the grumpy mother-in-law",
and the all time favourite "under one roof"!
Why "under one roof"?
BECAUSE WE'RE FROM HOUSE!

This week has been a rather exciting week for me!
On monday, i had house committee investiture where the duties were passed on to the next batch! Slacked around after that and talked with the house comm people, year 1s and 2s. We even tried playing hide-and-sick in the pt block. Then, Kaixiang started his lame jokes session which was ended by him being dunked into the fountain! Then the fountain welcomed me, ashvin, andy and jenn haur too! Wonder why the good looking alwats gets dunked? Then, we went for match support at sbc to support the bball girls and guys. The girls were amazing and got into the finals but the guys, despite being the better team in my perpective, let stress get the better of them and lost the match and will be fighting for third place. It was really an enjoyable but tiring day!
On tuesday, nothign happened. A typical stressful day in VJC.
On wednesday, i got back my chemistry paper! I scored an all-time low of 14.5/35. I think it was largely due to the 10.5 marks i lost at organic chem because i simply suck at memorising. Then after school i went to support softball guys and girls at VJC. Girls simply owned HCI and won 9-1 to be crowned national champions for the 2nd successive year! The guys, however, weren't a match for RJC at all and got thrashed 20-1. well, at least the school was reallt proud we got 1 point as we're the only school to do that. Overheard the year 1s plot to dunk me into the fountain and so escaped school early. Eventually went for dinner with jenn haur and ash.
On thursday, i grew one year older. I'm 18 years old. Happy birthday to me! Thanks to all those who wished me and even bought presents, i'm really happy to just know that u guys remembered. Now, i can watch m18 shows and buy alcohol... tsk tsk. The house comm people failed to dunk me for the whole day, disappointing manz. had lunch with my class at parkway macs where more than half did not actually buy from macs. Went to support soccer guys after that. As expected, we won 2-0 and are in the finals with MJC again. Great rivalry! i felt really great to cheer with the house comm people manz!
On friday, the crazy bunch of people actually dunked me,in front of so many people rushing off for lecture, right after assembly. Luckily, i had extra clothes with me. Mr B happened to catch the action and luckily he didn't comment on it. This made me miss the first lecture of the day as it'll be really stupid to enter pat leong's lecture after the first period. went to support bball finals for girls after school. The atmosphere was amazing. But luck wasn't on our side as the girls fell to a 10 point loss and got 2nd overall! It was really a good fight and till the final 3-4 minutes i believed we could win it. Went to eat with bryan, jacq, daryl, ruth and weishan after that.
Saturday was a super boring day lahz. went all the way to boon lay to go NTU at 9.15am. Stupid one hour ride just for the ATC briefing. But luckily me and faiz were there as the teams which were not present might be pulled out as there's too many teams. then i took another stupid 1 hour trip back home. Rented 2 DVDs to watch because it was so damn hot and sianz at home. Luckily there was weishan hor... secret! *winkz*
But for now, i guess it's back to mugging to prevent the same grades from appearing at my mid-years.

House Committee Handover Day 15/05/2006
Part I
The aging & darkening population in VJC house committee
had to hand their duties over to a bunch of funky & shorter people. Somehow, they look more like a bunch of blind people.
Throughout this year, friendships were forged,
abnormal relationships were also created,
and rivalry arose.
The distance between us shortened from
to
and finally to
(fine i was lying, debbie didn't grow, the comparison got shorter)
1:49 PM - Tuesday, May 16, 2006
I've finally handed over my house committee duties to the next batch! It's really a huge load off my chest! The handover ceremony today was really unique, special, one-of-a-kind, never-seen-before,etc. In my opinion, it started with a bang and ended really mild and calmly.
By 7.30am, all the year twos were already smartly clad in black with ties of their respective house colours on them and the year ones were also awaiting at the side of the hall with their shades. But somehow, after national anthem, pledge taking and mrs chan's especially long announcement and the clocked read 7.55am, we knew something was going to come our way. Then the video played, and halfway through the video at around 8.05am, what we expected eventually came. Mr Bastard (aka Mr B) came behind the hall to ask who did the video and why was it so long. After learning from Daryl that the video was 8 minutes long, he started to scream at him like nobody's business. With Kaixiang's interference, we managed to calm the situation down and leave it till after assembly. By now, the situation was already very tense and all we could do was hurry the walking in and announcing of next batch of house comm which made everyone looked like idiots. Once again, people are going to think that house comm are a bunch of incompetant losers who can't even do a proper job at investiture.
Next Mr B called us all the the grandstand to tell us the difference between obedience and defiance and to tell us the importance of 8 minutes. Mr B also told us the meaning of being disgusted with us and he even cracked a super lame joke by saying "when have I ever said no to you?" Basically, it was just a case of misunderstanding and i think Mr B knows his misatake. I think many people will already be scolding him so i shan't do that too. Give and take.
But seriously, Mr B is someone who doesn't know give and take. Firstly, 8 minutes and 15 minutes are just 7 minutes difference. How much impact will that have on lessons. To miss chow, maybe the 7 minutes will be "do u all need me to explain this?" Besides, when u release them at 8, who actually rushes for lessons and reach class within minutes? He's someone who cannot do his work well too. As the house committee teacher in charge, why must you, at the last few minutes of our term, come and yell at us? It totally spoilt everyone's mood, especially of daryl and kaixiang. And he's definitely someone who cannot fight for house committee. Look at the SC with Mr Chad Goh, the CT council with Mr Hoe, and us with Mr B. the difference is clearly shown by our investiture. The SC took a whole assembly period and 2 full school periods, had a full day off and refreshments at the concourse. they had air-con hall for the students, and everyone even had to wear tie for them. Fine, let's see CT council. They also took assembly and a full 2 periods. Although theirs is only invloving year 1s, they had the performance theatre and refreshments at the concourse. Lastly, they had a full day off. Now look at house committee. we wanted the handover last thursday, Mr B pushed it to this monday. fair enough, because Mrs Chan had to speak. We asked for investiture to take assembly and the first period. Disallowed. Fine, we tried to throw away all the creative ideas we had and shorten it to the bare minimum, video, walk-in and handover, taking about 20 minutes max. Due to miscommunication, Mr B thought it was only 8 minutes and made a fuss out of nothing. We have no refreshments, no proper investiture, even our full day off was self declared. Think about it, if we had to kick someone out to make house committee more prominet, who should it be? Mr B claims to do everything he can to make house committee more prominent and significant in school, but think about it, has he done anything that has not put us down?
In short, he's an obstacle.

I just had a crazy econs test today which i failed to answer at least 75% of the questions. Hopefully, luck will be on my side and I won't get a single digit score. But along the way, I was thinking, why is that that whenever students do badly for a test, the school always says that the test is too difficult and maybe even moderate the passing marks. But, don't they ever think that it's because they have lousy teachers who can't seem to deliver their lessons properly? I mean, how many times do we go for tests mugging the notes ourslelves than actually using whatever the teacher have "taught" during lectures?
On another note, I'm going for NTU-ODAC adventure trail challenge with joyce, faiz and ling xiu on june 4th. I'm so looking forward to it! Must beat the VJC ODAC team... haha!
1 day to house committee handover.
2 days to vesak day.
8 days to my birthday.
16 days to my NS checkup.
17 days to school holidays.
25 days to the adventure trail challenge.

I'm feeling the aftermath of the 2.4km run today. Been rather lethargic the whole day. I guess it would have been the fastest 2.4km run I've ever done. But nonetheless, I guess it was a pretty decent NAPFA result for me this year. At least no extra 2 months of NS physical training for me.

Some of the pictures of the recent sentosa outing.
Year 1s and year 2s in the usual "shortest in front, tallest at the back" picture.
Now we start to try something new by having our very own house committee handsign. Somehow the front 4 seemed to be in a different frequency.
And then the babes decided the hunks were too hot they needed a picture by themselves, but they forgot to wait for the prettiest babe, Jenn Haur.
Jenn Haur tries to steal the limelight in the 2nd shot by showing his butt. Somehow, the girls are impressed!
Finally we have a picture without hunks nor Jenn Haur, just babes. Clockwise from top: Ruth, Joyce, Debbie, Emily, Pam, Stella, Wei Shan, Lydia, Jingyi, Lim Hong.
The guys tried to take a special picture by defying gravity. We failed.
We tried again.
We succeeded! Except for CK, who probably failed due to his super low centre of gravity.
Not wanting to leave CK behind, we tried again. A wonderful example of "unity is strength". I needed more help by praying.
Let's face it. It was just jumping, and jumping is tiring.
The older dudes and dudettes. We are really becoming more religious. just look at CK.
We finally understand!!! CK is "the one", the buddha!
Clockwise from top: Joyce, Pam, Debbie, Emily, Me, Ashvin, CK, Jenn haur.
SILOSO! We could only stand on our house colours. Kaixiang and Jenn haur can't.

These few days might have been the most enjoyable and relaxing days for me in a very long time.
I managed to crash drama nite on friday with the house comm peeps and got to watch zuhao's play. Although i know nothing about theatre nor drama, i think it was a really good effort and i was quite entertained for the whole half an hour or so. The trees were sort of the highlight of the play to many i guess. But somehow, the ending to the play was a bit abrupt. Anyway, it was a good attempt.
After which the few of us who were supposed to stay over in school gathered in the canteen and as expected, the actual turnout was way lesser than planned. There were a total of 7 year 2s and 2 year 1s, elica and clayton. We wanted to play midnight floorball but there were lots of chairs in the hall, probably because of SC investiture. So ended up we just taked the night away while joyce and debbie were at some club watching a fashion show. Our agenda for discussion ranged from politics, world war II and ghosts stories to secondary schools, house committee and general elections.
Was woken up by 2 band guys blowing their trumpets the next day lahz, but it was a good thing since we had to leave before VIP open house. Went to old airport road for breakfast den went off to harbourfront to go to sentosa! Initially i thought it wouldn't be so fun as there weren't a lot of people, in fact there were only 2 year 1s and about 6 year 2s. But amazingly, after we reached siloso beach, more and more people came and the outing became much more fun! We were joined by pamela, emily, wei shan, ruth, CK, lydia, hong sheng, lim hong, stella, jing yi, daryl, kai xiang and andy. Time past really fast at sentosa i guess. I'm really happy that the outing allowed me to know many of the nominees better and them to know me better.
Sunday was supposed to have dinner with jenn haur, primero, yeh hao and chinyong at jalan kayu. So we're supposed to meet at 5pm at sengkang. But somehow, primero sms me to meet 5pm at pasir ris. So we met at pasir ris at 5pm and i reached at 5.20pm. Then they decided to go to tampines to watch movie and for dinner. Then suddenly we decided to eat at delifrance at white sands again. Afterwhich, we changed our minds again and wanted to go primero's house to watch DVD and eat pizza. ........................................
In the end, we took a cab to primero's house and ate hor fun bought by chin yong. We spent the next 4+ hours playing games on PS 2.
