here's a post specially dedicated to stephanie chen of 05s46, pegasus.
STEPH ROCKS!
she toally rocks my life ever since i knew her end of last year, because of the following reasons:
1. she's been a great assistant to me during orientation when i was seriously pissed and stressed.
2. she wishes me lots of good luck for my musicfest.
3. she offers me a musicfest ticket even when i didn't ask her for one.
4. she always greets me with a smile in the morning (in fact the whole day she'll be smiling)!
5. she dances superbly well!
6. she has a cool and special chinese name.
7. she's gonna continue rocking my world!
all the best for musicfest girl... hope escnad will win! i'll vote for you!

I've changed my blog template to this really cool navigation type which may be confusing to people who were following my old blogs. But the fact that you are able to reach this page means that you understand how this works and that your iq is not so low after all.
Everything I type on my blog are my own personal comments purely for memory (or in certain cases, stress relieving) purposes and not targetted on inflicting irreversible mental trauma on whoever's name that is mentioned. I also do not like to discuss things mentioned in the blog outside of my blog. What's in the blog, remains in the blog.
Please tag on the tagboard to give me constructive comments or just to say hi. I love to say hi because greetings are free.

it's really amusing to see people getting so worried because they don't have tickets for musicfest. i guess to me, it's just like any other school event like sports day or CNY celebrations or even like some CCA's concert. you don't see people getting all hyped up and excited over them, so why musicfest? and it's really disturbing to hear usually unenthu people saying,"oh it's a school event, so we must go." bullshit lor. i guess when it's time for sports day and other school events people will be trying to find ways and reasons to pon. i guess they're just being ignorant. i can't believe there's actually people paying up to $20 for a ticket from the black market to go watch. as quoted from cosiety, they're "just a bunch of unproven 17 and 18 year olds trying to get some fame". and look at the people in the finals? it's been obviously overated.
but after saying all that, i have to admit that i have a ticket and am actaully attending it. but to make things clear, i didn't go around begging council people for it nor complain here and there because i wasn't successful in balloting for the tickets. and i certainly am not going there because i wanna see how good the finalists are. it's just that steph is nice to ask me if i had a ticket and offered me one for $10. and i guess since steph and jing are the only 2 people in the whole finals that i know, their dance group is probably be the only finalist i'm gonna support!!! GO ESCNAD!!!
haha, on a side note. i think there's some problem with my ears. my nokia earpiece can't seem to fit into them perfectly and they keep dropping off.
oh there's gonna be the launch of artery tml at the concourse now renamed the arts concourse. there'll be lots performace and lucky draw i heard. i know it's gonna be a success because it's so heavily supported by the school, unlike house function which is like only done by draco and lynx house comm. anyway, jasmine and i got invited to do a duet performance at the event and i was asked to do a solo as well. finally get a chance to finish a song properly without the *ding ding*. should be doing matchbox twenty's unwell. i liked that song for years.
anyway, my layout of this blog is gonna be the new wallpaper of draco house notice board! woohoo! that totally rocks.
ok, shall give my full coverage of musicfest tml (expect lots of bias in it).

yes, yes. as many have already known, i'm already out of musicfest. both the solo and duet category. will have to say i felt rather disappointed initially, after the high hopes built within me due to my friend's encouragements and stuff. i guess the worse thing was not losing, but probably losing to competitors that are obviously not as good.
by saying this i am largely referring to my class band, sax on the beach. the didn't make it to musicfest finals as well. i guess undoubtedly they were one of the better bands, probably one deemed for the finals right at the start, due to their unique style and one-of-a-kind presentation. at least they had a saxaphone and grand piano which were obviously missing in the other cliche bands with heavy distortion and lousy singers. but sadly, they still didn't make it as the bandits, the camels and the daniel band made the final 3. i mean the camels were good, so they deserved it. but one should really wonder why the bandits, who did the same song as the auditions and with a lousy male co-lead singer, could actually make it to the finals? maybe it was due to ramses' wonderful guitar? that's the only reason i could think of. but the daniel band is seriously one that didn't deserve the finals slot. c'mon, just look at them during orientation and house function and it isn't hard to imagine what kind of performance they gave for the semi-finals. my heart really goes out to sax on the beach and i really have to say i'm kinda proud of them, seeing the hard work they've put in for the competition.
also i'll have to add that jasmine's exit from the competition came as a surprise for me. i mean if we could remember, her audition performace was seriously one of the best in the competiton. and clearly, her semi finals performace was hindered by the lousy PA system. i don't see why she didn't get in while other who are obviously weaker than her can get in. irvin tried doing the same stuff as last year, doing some elvis song with corny dance moves to cover up for lousy choral singing, actually managed to fool the judges into letting him into the finals. and why is it that he gets to sing the whole song? if they said they'll cut u off when they already know your standard, shouldn't he be cut off right at the beginning? and almost no one else managed to finish their songs. i guess it's the entertainment value they need for musicfest i guess, considering the other 2 boring finalists. for me, i think the only highlight of musicfest will have to be only the dance category cuz the others will be borrrriiinnnggg!
after a whole day of thinking however, i realised that there was no point thinking about it anymore. this kind of singing competition is rather subjective to the judges preferences, especially so for musicfest where the judges are only school teachers. and i guess there's no point proving to people you can sing better than them or criticising that someone can't sing for nuts. i think what's important is that you actually enjoy singing and especially your own singing. this point actually came to my mind when i was on the bus today and i saw this young girl carrying her little brother and she was wearing a hearing aid. and later on, i saw another young lady who was using sign language to communicate with her friend. i started to wonder if i was already much luckier than them, seriously. for someone like me who totally loves singing, i tink it'll be a devastating blow is i were hearing or vocally impaired. so right now, i think it's alright after all that i'm out of musicfest. at least i can still sing to myself, sing to people who appreciate my singing. but i still don't think i'll go and watch musicfest cuz i think it'll be rather boring.
for those who managed to read till this part, must really thank you for listening to my endless ranting and bitching. shall end of with two meaningful pictures that marks the end of my musicfest journey.
thanks to people who have constantly stepped on these on your way to the classrooms.

have been sleeping through a lot of lectures and tutorials this first week after school reopens. i think the main reason is that most of the time the lecturers or tutors are going through papers and seriously they all speak with a monotonous tone. imagine mo kwok talking about math, den miss chow and finally MR TOH!!! THE EXTREME MANZ. SUPER MONOTONOUS VOICE!!! and he caught me sleeping and asked whether it was boring. i seriously wanted to say yes lor. even jason and fabian wanted to fall asleep. that would show how boring it seriously is.
but anyway, alan got an A for econs! that's the 2nd A he's received in VJC so far... haha, but it was a lucky A where i just barely hit 70% and considering the leniency of miss chow, i guess maybe it wasn't worth an A after all. i mean if jason can get 29/30 for case study, we really have to think about whether it was really marked too lightly. neverhteless, it really made my day. so for common test 1, my grades are AACE, a somehwhat improvement from last years CDDE
oh i just realised one reason that makes me so tired is the stupid bus service that i take to bedok every day. either 18 or 67 or 28. i seriously don't see how a bus service can take 40 minutes from tampines to bedok. walao, if i was on mrt 40 minutes can take me from tampines to orchard! but there's always a slow and painful jam along the roads of red swastika school and with the recent shifting of pasir ris sec to bedok, the bus is moving super slowly and super packed... DAMED SIANNNNN. i think maybe if PAP wins the election for east coast district, maybe they should do something to improve the traffic there. even if i leave home at 6.35, there's still a possibility that i'm late. what kind of reason is this??? so now u know what time i must wake up. stupid bus.
well today was the last day of musicfest semifinals. had duet with jasmine. i didn't know thet out of all the performers today, i'm the only one that isn't from choir. of course i mean choir people don't necessarily sing well, but i guess the judges may not know that and definitely will be biased towards them. like what irvin did which was a totally replica from his performance last year, the judges and audiences (almost all from choir) actually found it cute and even shouted encore. i mean all he can do is some lousy corny moves to cover his not so nice singing and they actually fell for it? i can say that jasmine's solo is definitely better than him. but the PA crew seriously screwed up this time round. there was sth seriously wrong with the sound system such that one side of the LT could hear mostly music, and the other side mostly voice. and the person on stage? hear almost nothing... aiyah, whatever it is, the results will be known by tomorrow and i seriously hoped the best candidate goes to the finals, rather than some people who can only rely on the fact that they're from choir and have some lousy dance moves. ahhh, crap!

wow, look at when was the last time i posted. lots of stuff had happened between then and now. some happy stuff, some unexpected ones and some disappointing ones. i guess the main issues concerning my life now will have to be sports day, musicfest, academics, my fitness and dunman high sports day.
till this point of time, alan has achieved 8th for high jump and 3rd for 400m hurdles. kinda disappointing for myself i guess. had expected a top 6 finish for high jump and 2nd for 400m hurdles but failed to achieve both of them. but probably it's cuz i had too high expectations for myself. but one thing that made me happy was the time i clocked for 400m hurdles... 70 seconds! that's 2 seconds better then my performance last year. but sasi did it in astonishing time of 57 seconds and 2nd placed dex could only manage 67 seconds. and considering this is my first time doing high jump, maybe the results weren't so bad after all. looking forward to my 100m heats on 30th march, next friday. will do my best to get into top 8!
musicfest till now as been a relatively fun and easy ride for me, all the way until yesterday where i went up on stage for my semi finals. knowing that i had my 400m hurdles straight after i finishing singing, i didn't really feel at ease while singing. and despite my large note on the cd indicating i want the volume loud, the PA crew still played it kinda soft, resulting in the song losing its rock feeling. oh for those who didn't watch or who dunno, i did JJ's cao cao. to myself, i would feel that it was a disappointing performance and one which i could have done much better. but after some encouragement from 'someone", i started to feel a bit more optimistic about my chances. wouldn't dare say if i would get into or i wouldn't get into the finals, but i know i wouldn't undermine my chances. was a pity i didn't manage to watch the other solo performers, or else i could have a better gauge of my own standard. but for now, it's 100% for my duet performance with jasmine on thursday, 23rd march.
academics has always not mattered so much to me until recently where i suddenly felt the nearing of the A levels. here's a rough gauge of alan's results for his JC life.

haha, what else is there to say??? alan has gotta work harder...
the other 2 items on the list are quite hard to be described in words... so i shan't do it this time round. wait till i better organise my thoughts.
so for now, alan's aims are to...
1. get into finals for musicfest for solo or duet or both
2. get into top 8 for 100m 'A' boys
3. study hard
4. remain a happy person.

off to camp! be back on wednesday!
2:13 PM - Friday, March 10, 2006
this has been a great week! lots of class activities and several good news too!
monday was movie-with-class day due to us having the day off because there was bio 's' papers going on. wanted to try to catch transamerica which was an R21 movie but failed terribly. ended up watching big momma's house 2. it was a lousy movie with lousy plot and not-that-funny jokes. but kind of a good way to spend time with frens lahz. but poor juleng was watching it a second time, wonder how she felt considering i tot it was lousy the first time i watched.
tuesday was a quiet and nice day in school. nothing much happened except me and zuhao went to gym after school. oh, but i received a special voucher that allows me to bring 6 guests to wild wild wet for 4 bucks per person. who knows how i ever gotten that voucher. it was sent by post. anyway, that'll be useful on thursday.
wednesday was the day i knew my marks for math common test. got a disppointing 51/80 which gave me a high C, almost a B. but kind of expected it, since i made a lot of careless mistakes then. after school was meeting with draco and lynx house comm for house function on friday, Candyfest 2006! was a great time discussing and we seemed as if we were discussing about some large fun fair. but it's gonna be real fun and we hope people will turn up!
thursday has got to be the most fun day of the week. firstly, found out that mr kwok made a mistake and i actually got 62/80 for math which means i have finally gotten my first A in my JC life!!!!! and quite a high A somemore, at least to me. and guess what, after school we went to wild wild wet! using my voucher i got on tuesday, the 6 of us merely paid $30 in all to enter wild wild wet. that's like freaking cheap. usually 2 people entry will cost u more than $30 already. but anyway, wild wild wet was freaking fun! probably it was because it was mt first time there. specially enjoyed the samsung slide-up and the yakult professor playground. actually we finished touring and playing the wholeplace in about 2 hours, but we continued with all sorts of rubbish like catching at the playground, racing through shiok river, going down slides as a group in different positions, etc. those lasted us through all the way till 7pm, when the prak closed. but seriously, i wouldn't wanna go again. it'll spoil my fond memories of the first visit there.
tml will be house function... hope it'll be a sucess... blog more about it tml.

common tests are over, and i doubt i'll get C or above for any subjects... but never mind, shall start working hard.
started the day hearing from zuhao that the chemistry exam might be postponed due to full day off because of good A-Level results. but as many of the year twos have this chem paper as their last common test paper and most of us have mugges hard the day befoe hoping to enjoy ourselves throughly after the paper, we kinda protsted or rather made nosise so that the paper will carry on. poor literature and F-math students, because if chem paper carries on then these 2 papers will carry on in the afternoon. so mrs chan gave the year 1s and IPs the full day off while year 2s carried on with chem paper which ended at 11.30am, which kinda eant we have half the day off too. combined with friday, the weekend and monday(because of postpone of friday's papers), we have a total of 5.5 days off! haha, well done and much thanks to our seniors from the 04 batch for this long break for all of us.
and i got a very great inspiration from one of them, and he was santosh, the president of the 21st students' council. i bet he must have been a much busier person than me, and he scored BOOO for mid years in year 2. but with sheer determination and hard work (i myself saw him mugging in school till the school closes almost everyday), he managed to obtain AACC in the prelims. that's already a massive improvement. and at the A-levels, he obtained an outstanding 3As and A2 for GP!!!! now i really look up upon him as a role model and someone who achieved something that, if i put in hard work, i can achieve too! another one was yifei from my senior class... someone who doesn't seem to study actually got 4As!!! how the hell did he do that?
chem sucks! but after that we went to catch a movie as a class... has been quite long since s27 had a class outing. wanted to watch trans america which was a R21 film. so we bought tickets for final destination 3 and tried to sneak into the cinema after we got past the lday at the entrance. we failed terribly, as the cinemas, due to some upgrading by cineleisure, became at different storeys. so we watched final destination 3. quite a nice film, i'll probably give it a 3/5. a must watch for people who like happy tree friends or people who like boobs (opps). shan't be a spoiler here.
today's a day i feel really belonged and attached to VJC... and i just realised i have a lot of VJC related T-shirts... today's photo gallery shall be on my VJC related T-shirt collection....
the all time favourite... VJC SCHOOL UNIFORM!!! used to be waterproof and fireproof, now it's see-through for some people
2nd most worn shirt, the yellow and white PE T-SHIRT, a favourite among year 1s during first three months, esp. those with blue pinafold.
my preferred choice over the PE shirt, the DRACO HOUSE TEE!!! one of the nicest house tees in my opinion.
Top to Bottom: AFRO TEE, STORY TEE, 'F-O' TEE, VICTOR TEE!!! the first two from orientation year 1 and the bottom 2 from year 2. kinda creative but i guess more colours could be added...
OCIP TEE. lousy choice for colour (orange and dark blue), but nonetheless a great piece of memory from the OCIP trip. i thought it was a nice design, must mean a lot to yongbin.
CLASS TEE! nice design but i wun show the whole shirt as it'll spoil the impression of the shirt in your minds...
a red VICTORIAN TEE i bought recently. i find it quite nice, red with gold wordings, kinda similar to those bilabong shirts except i doubt they have this colour...
That's 10 shirts already, folks. and i'm too lazy to take the picture of my new house comm tee shirt... shall put it up the next post...
started the day hearing from zuhao that the chemistry exam might be postponed due to full day off because of good A-Level results. but as many of the year twos have this chem paper as their last common test paper and most of us have mugges hard the day befoe hoping to enjoy ourselves throughly after the paper, we kinda protsted or rather made nosise so that the paper will carry on. poor literature and F-math students, because if chem paper carries on then these 2 papers will carry on in the afternoon. so mrs chan gave the year 1s and IPs the full day off while year 2s carried on with chem paper which ended at 11.30am, which kinda eant we have half the day off too. combined with friday, the weekend and monday(because of postpone of friday's papers), we have a total of 5.5 days off! haha, well done and much thanks to our seniors from the 04 batch for this long break for all of us.
and i got a very great inspiration from one of them, and he was santosh, the president of the 21st students' council. i bet he must have been a much busier person than me, and he scored BOOO for mid years in year 2. but with sheer determination and hard work (i myself saw him mugging in school till the school closes almost everyday), he managed to obtain AACC in the prelims. that's already a massive improvement. and at the A-levels, he obtained an outstanding 3As and A2 for GP!!!! now i really look up upon him as a role model and someone who achieved something that, if i put in hard work, i can achieve too! another one was yifei from my senior class... someone who doesn't seem to study actually got 4As!!! how the hell did he do that?
chem sucks! but after that we went to catch a movie as a class... has been quite long since s27 had a class outing. wanted to watch trans america which was a R21 film. so we bought tickets for final destination 3 and tried to sneak into the cinema after we got past the lday at the entrance. we failed terribly, as the cinemas, due to some upgrading by cineleisure, became at different storeys. so we watched final destination 3. quite a nice film, i'll probably give it a 3/5. a must watch for people who like happy tree friends or people who like boobs (opps). shan't be a spoiler here.
today's a day i feel really belonged and attached to VJC... and i just realised i have a lot of VJC related T-shirts... today's photo gallery shall be on my VJC related T-shirt collection....
the all time favourite... VJC SCHOOL UNIFORM!!! used to be waterproof and fireproof, now it's see-through for some people
